Day 338 – Alexander Hamilton

“I am not throwing away my shot” – Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton

“Look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now.” -Eliza Hamilton, Hamilton

“There’s a million things I haven’t done but just you wait.” – Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton

Today I am going to try my best to “”Talk less, smile more.” -Aaron Burr, Hamilton“. My coworker Mike and I had used the words “Life Changing” when we were very serious about recommendations for one another. We were randomly talking about movies and I said that I was going to watch the Greatest Showman one weekend. He then said that I should watch Hamilton instead and then even one upped by saying it was “life changing”. I didn’t listen of course because we were recommended to watch the other movie which happened to be very good although I did leave Hamilton in the back of my head as a must watch in the near future. Fast forward a few weekends and Amalia’s parents wanted to watch Hamilton as well so we planned a night for all of us to watch it together. To be honest, I wasn’t very excited other than the fact that my co-worker recommended it. I just was never much of a “play” person, so I figured I might not like it. Then it happened, a night that I truly will never forget. I sat in our love seat as it started and was awestruck the entire time. Fast forward to a few months later and I was listening to the soundtrack as if it were just regular songs. Amalia heard me constantly saying “Alexa, Play Hamilton” and it would start playing the whole soundtrack. It’s a masterpiece. Lin Manuel Miranda is just awesome, I even noticed when we were watching Moana that the songs sounded like Hamilton’s style. Then in the credits I came to realize that it’s because he was the lead for the soundtrack of that, a movie I also thought was great. So needless to say, when broadway came back I knew I wanted to try to get some tickets. Lucky ole me was scrolling on twitter one day over six months ago and saw that tickets just got released. I jumped on them and got great seats/price and helped plan an amazing weekend with Amalia. The night before this we will be seeing Cary Elwes for a showing of The Princess Bride and a meet and greet as well. So it’s nice weekend of enjoying the things we love together. As you may now be able to tell, I am writing this post from a few days prior but expect a post on Monday hearing about both shows. I definitely lied about the talk less part but I will leave you with one last quote but this time from the Princess Bride, you may have heard it before if you follow our posts.. “Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.” – William Goldman, The Princess Bride

Item 338 of 360+

In honor of us seeing Hamilton today in NYC, today’s decluttered item is a time with Benjamin Franklin on it. Both are very important to US history and hold a place on our currency so I thought it was about as fitting and relatable as possible. I have no use for this tie anymore so I hope someone will find it cool and use it for high school like I once did.
