“Thinking I should be a better me.” – Kid Cudi
There is a lot background noise in life. A lot of things going on everyday to enjoy, get distracted by or obsess over. Do you get caught up in it? The past few weeks have been a little nosier than usual. Today, I put on my metaphorical noise-cancelling headphones and took a step back from everything. It’s been a lot of living on other people’s time recently. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I end up not having enough hours in the day to do the things I really want to do. What it all boils down to is focusing on being a better version of myself.
Chores have been backing up a bit, books have been left unread, the PS5 has been sitting untouched for the most part and workouts have been rushed or skipped. Things have been a little bit out of control and there’s no better day than today to start bringing it all back together. Today’s small step was cleaning off my desk, which was a mess. I had paperwork for my compound bow and my phone’s protective screen sitting around because I needed it temporarily to fill out warranty information. Well temporarily isn’t a time range and it’s been sitting there for weeks now. Fortunately, I finally did the warranties and the desk is now clean of both clutter and dust. My desk, where I am right now currently writing this, is a place to come to clear my head so it’s important to make sure that there isn’t tasks and dirt piling up on it. There are more tasks that need to be done outside at my house that I have been meaning to do. Today, I also made a plan of a day to complete those tasks. So now instead of thinking about them, I have a plan to take action on that in the near future. Today was a good day and I hope to keep up the progress again tomorrow with the simple goal of blocking out background noise, getting things accomplished and being the best version of myself.
