Day 137 – Think. Think. Think.

“We are dying from overthinking. We are slowly killing ourselves by thinking about everything. Think. Think. Think. You can never trust the human mind anyway. It’s a death trap.” -Anthony Hopkins

“Worrying about how things might go wrong, doesn’t help things to go right.” -Karen Salmansohm

Though the quotes above may be true, it doesn’t make it any easier to not overthink things every once in a while. I must say it really is a blessing and a curse. When things are going well, I think it’s mostly a positive thing. You don’t find yourself thinking about problems and instead one is just overthinking for what’s ahead, which leads to great preparation. When things aren’t going as well, that’s when you get in trouble. If there is a problem, a person who overthinks it usually will need to try to find the best solution and it’s not always that easy.

I am guilty of overthinking but it’s something I’ve learned to deal with and that I have gotten better with. I still find myself overthinking things from time to time but I try my best not to read into things as much anymore. I also noticed that I can more easily catch myself in the act and try to stop myself before it gets out of hand. I’ve realized that if you read into things too much, you end up obsessing over it and trying to make things right. However, your version of right doesn’t mean it’s everyone’s version of right. Others don’t and will never have the same thought process or care about certain things as you do. At the end of the day, it makes you go a bit crazy and if you do it too much it will burn you out. The easiest thing to do is just to talk about things that are bothering you rather than letting them simmer in your brain. If it causes tension than deal with the tension. If the tension is too much than that person isn’t worth it in the first place, life goes on. When you can turn your overthinking into just plain old fashioned thinking, it makes things a lot easier on you, your brain and the people closest to you. If anyone has had problems with overthinking or something similar, leave a comment!

Item 137 of 360+

Today’s items are the last random accessories we are decluttering from our kitchen. One was from an older Keurig that we have no use for and the other thing is some sort of spoon we have never used. In a sense it was best for last because there was no chance we would use either of these items. If items can’t be used and add no value to your life, it’s time to get rid of them.
