“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” – Robert Brault
Hello and Happy First Day of Spring! Today TJ and I went down to Bethlehem with my Dad, sister, and her boyfriend for an Irish festival. It was a sunny and gorgeous day to mark the first day of spring and it was wonderful. I stopped numerous times along the day’s festivities and took a look around. Everyone was happy, smiling, having a good time, and the sun was just beating down creating joy for all those out today that the warmer season soon lies ahead. Looking around and taking in the moments throughout the day was my favorite part. It was about the small things and the little joys of life. My Dad had recently been sharing a lot of really old memories of my sister and I when we are all together and had repeated a lot of these memories in recent years. I realized it was time to create new ones and was happy that today we got the chance to. It’s important to make the time to spend with your loved ones to create new happy memories.
The quote today really is one of my mottos in life, and that’s to enjoy the little things. Especially growing up without having much, you learn to appreciate the moment rather than any of the material aspects. I always try to ground myself back to those days in my childhood when things didn’t matter. When you start growing up and having money of your own, it’s easy to get lost in the material world and forget to stop and smell the roses. Be a stop and smell the roses (or should I say daffodils with the upcoming spring) type of person next time you go out with your family. It won’t disappoint your day.
