Day 59 – In a Rush

“No matter how you hurry, you will notice at the end of the day that you traveled at the speed of time.” – Robert Brault

Everybody seems to be in a rush, me included. One of the primary causes is from trying to squeeze so much into every day. If your day is packed, all it takes is one thing to run late for everything to be rushed. Sometimes it doesn’t even take one thing running long, sometimes, you’re just truly overbooked which is planned failure. Failure to plan is planning for failure. Being in a rush is never a good feeling and when it’s the norm it will cause anxiety and exhaustion. If it sucks, it shouldn’t be the norm so the real question is, what are you going to do about it?

The best combat is planning your day and not over-booking yourself constantly. This is of course easier said than done for those of us trying to make the most out of weekends or after work activities. This is where the pandemic helped me. There is much less to rush for, much less going on, and there really is a beauty in it. It’s a lesson that things don’t need to be jam-packed with activities. Balance of activities, productivity, relaxation, and learning is much better. It’s harder to realize this when there is so much to do. There are so many options to choose from but when that’s taken away, it’s you and your free time. When all you have is free time, what are you going to do with it? This is what makes or breaks us. I chose to be a better version of myself and to take advantage of this unique opportunity of growth. Less rushing, more living; less is more. Today’s post has been brought to you by a 1.7 mile treadmill walk.

It’s always a good opportunity to declutter a part of your house when you’re already there doing some sort of project. Decluttering while being productive, a win-win. Today we had to replace our kitchen faucet because it was leaking. This home improvement project gave us the opportunity to clean out underneath the sink to get rid of unnecessary items. The same can be said about other projects around the house. Always seize the opportunity to make your living area more livable and less cluttered.
