“Sometimes you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.” -Gossip Girl
Hi friends, Amalia here and we’re about to get inside my mind today for Thursday’s Thoughts. This year has been depressing, sad, and stressful for most of us to say the least. The longer amount of time we spend away from our loved ones, putting off our travel plans, and quarantining ourselves in our homes piles on and we’re left overwhelmed. I’ve been a bit stressed out with work lately and depressed as it’s the dead of winter and Covid is still running amuck. When things start to spiral out of control and you’re left feeling like there’s no escape due to the overwhelming amount of emotions you’re feeling, I go for a walk.
My dad and I share this characteristic as we always go for a walk to get fresh air and clear our minds when we’re stressed out. When your mind is about to explode from all the craziness in your life, go for a walk next time. Take the time for yourself and either reflect on your day/week, relax, think about what you’ll do next, or don’t think at all and just destress. I take my dog Luna for walks after work and it really is one of the highlights of my day. Sometimes TJ is with me too! We talk about our days or what’s bothering us and when I’m alone, I reflect and take some deep breaths. The quote of today is really simple and quite lovely as it’s something I say to myself very often. It’s important to remind yourself of what makes you happy and sometimes you need to reevaluate your priorities to make yourself happy and regain your mental well being. These walks have really been helping me, especially throughout this past year. Next time you’re feeling bogged down with stress or anxiety, try taking a walk. Maybe it will too become your favorite part of your day.
Item 042 of 360+
Today’s item is TJ’s old tennis sweatshirt from high school. That’s pretty old… how many sweatshirts and tees do you still have from your alma mater? Perhaps it may be time to let some of them go. This was saved as a keepsake but since he never planned on wearing it again, a picture of the item will help it live on.
