“I wake up every morning at nine and grab for the morning paper. Then I look at the obituary page. If my name is not on it, I get up.” –Benjamin Franklin
“Before you fall asleep every day, say something positive to yourself.” –Enid Bagnold
It’s TJ for this TWOsday everybody. Let’s pose some questions on ourselves. This week I want to focus on myself at least twice a day. I know what you’re thinking.. this two theme never ends lol. In all seriousness though, when I think of two very critical parts of the day that are the best to involve focus on ourselves, nothing seems better than right after you get out of bed and right before you get into bed.
Q1: What is the best way to start your morning?
Other than waking up in the morning feeling like P Diddy, of course, shoutout to Ke$ha… A lot comes to mind but I think this is something that we should strive to simplify. When I take a walk in the morning it feels amazing but I don’t do it that often. When I get up earlier than my alarm and actually make a coffee, read something, and relax it feels amazing but I don’t do that often. What I unfortunately do often is I try to maximize sleep in the morning but that’s not the morning’s fault, that’s on that person that had you go to bed late the night before. There is no better time to start than now and I think what I need to do is try to focus on starting my day off better. Having some time to focus on yourself in the morning and doing something to make you feel better or amazing should be an everyday thing. Tomorrow I will be getting up earlier than usual, making a coffee, and taking a walk before going to work. I challenge you to answer this same question and try to do something similar.
Q2: What is the best way to end your night?
This one is simple for me and yet I am still struggling with it. I want to end my night by reading for 15 minutes to start and increase it from there. This helps with two things (I did the TWO thing again lol). First, it helps me guarantee that everyday I make progress on the books I want to read. Second, it gets me away from my phone and computer, there is too much screen time in my life and having that cool down to end every night would be great. I will be starting this tonight as well. I better wrap things up because if I am going to get up early and walk in the morning, I better prepare myself by getting some decent sleep. I once again challenge you to answer this same question and try to do something similar. Well goodnight and one last quote for the night. “Sleep awaits those of us who dare to dream. ” –Anthony T.
